January 1st 2017

day-one-2017

Welcome to a New Year and I’m so happy to see the back of 2016. It was one of the most emotionally challenging years for me to date. It had me questioning everything in life, and left me drained and utterly overwhelmed. Sinking trying to swim to a shore that kept drifting and falling out from under me. At times coping moment to moment, let alone day to day. But what I’ve learnt, and the growth from this period in my life is invaluable, the strength and self-worth I start  2017 with, would not have happened without the events of the past 18 months. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, however I guess no one likes pain, we all seek comfort, joy, and love. So when the reverse is dished up it’s challenging to learn from. What I thought at times to hard to endure was indeed sent for me to learn from, that I deserve more in life and that I don’t have to settle for what I had been for for so long. Life will only give you what you can handle, even if you don’t realise it at the time.

So heres to 2017. I took most of 2016 off from capturing families and weddings. I just didn’t have the emotional space or passion for my work, only capturing a few special clients that helped re ignite my love for photography. Thank you to my dear friends that have helped me along this journey, and to my wonderful kids. You’re love is like magic! As you will see I didn’t shoot my January project back in 2016 the last one was back in 2015. So here’s to 2017, may it be wonderful for us all! Thank you for dropping by I’m eternally grateful.

See you tomorrow xx Jodes

Photo-A-Day 2015 | 28, 29, 30 & 31

I can’t believe how quickly January passed by. The older I get the faster it zips by, well if feels faster anyway. I’m late but that’s ok, well I’m telling myself that because I’m feeling so much better now than I was on friday.

Here are our last few days of January. Thank you for following along it’s such a pleasure to do this personal project again, and I will continue on next year.

Enjoy your day xxx Jodes

Day 28 2015 | 5:49

More often than not these days, when she spots the camera she pulls a funny face. I caught her popping into the room downstairs and well this is the face I got. She’s funny, quirky and her own person alright! I love her xxx

Day 29 2015 | 4:31 pm

Sister’s they fight, play and laugh together.

Day 29 2015

Day 30 2015 | 5:51 pm

Holly got into a fight last week and has been very poorly, she’s on the way back and has been hanging out very close to us. We love her dearly, our little RSPCA recuse cat. We also love to hang out the front of our house. Watching the world pass by, storms roll in and playing with kids in the street .

Day 30 2015

Day 31 2015 | 5:43 pm

I like to finish the month with a nice portrait of the girls together. Since popping the pool in this is how they have looked, wet and bedraggled. I love it. Our summer of 2015 was spent in the pool. I feel very blessed and lucky to be able to say that. This is the first house I’ve ever lived in with a pool. We love it big time.

Day 31 2015

Thank you so very much for dropping by xxx

Photo-A-Day 2015 | 26 & 27

Day 26 2015 | 4:46 pm

The mums of this fabulous bunch of kids met at a play group in New Farm 8 years ago, (Craig, Keira and I, with Sienna in my belly, had just moved up from Sydney to Brisbane}. This gorgeous crew had a blast on Australia day, we celebrated by cooking the obligatory BBQ, laughter, long chats, a few beverages, running on the grass (rolling for some  🙂  chart-wheeling for the young ones) it was just good pure fun. Days like today are what it’s all about.
